The International Association of Women Judges (IAWJ) – Kenya Chapter is a non-profit and non-partisan organization comprising women judges and magistrates from across Kenya. Our mission is to promote human rights and gender justice while fostering a judiciary that is accessible and responsive to the needs of all people, particularly the vulnerable. We are committed to social transformation through the development of quality jurisprudence and judicial empowerment, ensuring that the rule of law is applied with compassion and integrity.
Guided by our vision of "Social Transformation through Access to Justice," our work includes strategic initiatives such as the Collective Empowerment Network (CEN), which focuses on mentorship and leadership development for women in the judiciary. We strive to break down barriers to justice by addressing systemic challenges like gender-based violence and human trafficking, leveraging our collective voice to influence national policymaking and ensure equal rights for every Kenyan.
Our commitment extends beyond the courtroom as we actively engage in grassroots outreach and collaborative partnerships to strengthen the legal framework for all. By championing the values of judicial excellence, independence, and accountability, we ensure that women’s voices are heard at every level of the decision-making process. Through continuous professional development and the sharing of best practices, the Chapter remains a steadfast beacon of hope, working tirelessly to build a society where the promise of the Constitution is a lived reality for all individuals, regardless of their gender or social standing.
Hear from our members, judicial partners, and the communities we serve about the transformative power of gender-focused jurisprudence and our commitment to championing the rights of women and children across Kenya.
The IAWJ Kenya Chapter leadership and its membership are excited about the opportunities the Strategic Plan presents to influence social change. We look forward to collaborating with our partners as we work on implementing the Strategic Plan and delivering on our objectives over the next five years.
Our members recognize their unique position as champions of social transformation through the judicial system. This plan positions the organization to support the development of quality jurisprudence that highlights justice for all and contributes to policymaking on gender justice.
As women Judges and Magistrates, we believe that we need to put a human face to the Judiciary that reaches the hearts and souls of all people. We are committed to supporting the Judiciary in the full realization of social transformation and equal access to justice for the vulnerable.
Our association is led by a dedicated Executive Committee of seasoned judges and magistrates who bring decades of legal expertise and a profound commitment to gender justice. Through strategic leadership and professional mentorship, they guide our mission to transform the Kenyan judiciary and ensure the legal system serves the most vulnerable members of our society with integrity and compassion.
By championing initiatives like the Collective Empowerment Network, we foster an environment where judicial integrity, social transformation, and equal access to justice are not just ideals, but a lived reality for every Kenyan. Our strength lies in our unified voice, leveraging years of collective experience on the bench to build a judiciary that is compassionate, inclusive, and fundamentally fair.
